About Us
The concept of Cimeron Stud originated in 1975 based on TB & Stockhorse breeding in Waroona W.A. Helen and Colin Duffy were involved in the Racing Industry as Owners/Trainers and Colin was a highly sought after and successful educator of young racehorses for an array of the States most successful Trainers After the birth of 2 children – Jamie & Anna –they moved firstly to the hub of racing in WA – Ascot, and then to the beautiful area of Darling Downs. Helen & Colin formed a heavy involvement with the Pony Club scene and consequently were always looking for a top all-round pony for their children, which in turn led to the Show world and into Pony breeding. Today the stud breeds mainly Riding Ponies, Arabian Riding Ponies and Colin’s special interest the working Quarterhorse. The home of Cimeron horses is nestled at the base of the Darling Scarp on 20 acres of old river bed and is situated 30 minutes from the CBD. A truly beautiful setting for such an enterprise. The first successful pony to be shown by the Duffy children was “Tamara Little Bandit” a 13hh buckskin and white Quarterhorse/Arabian Pony cross. He was a many times Supreme Champion and Dressage pony – who was originally Jamie’s and then handed down to Anna. He achieved Grand Champion led and ridden status in both WA and SA and was part of the State PPMG winning teams for many years. Anna’s first Riding Pony was Morningside Domino who we leased from Helen Moore and Marg Gillies – He really set her on the path to the hack ring and many Royal and HOTY Rider wins.
